Brunell, a political science professor, has testified more than half a dozen times on behalf of Republican efforts to redraw congressional districts, and is the author of a 2008 book titled “Redistricting and Representation: Why Competitive Elections Are Bad for America.”

Jesus fucking shitchrist. He's going to try to gerrymander himself into eternal power, and the establishment GOP will be with him on this.

You still feel like hitching yourself to her wagon was a smart idea?

How anyone who sees the destruction of American institutions day by day could say with a straight face that what they are seeing is OK...is beyond me.
That somehow what we are seeing, just look up and down at the post here..the SCOTUS , Net neutrality, permanent gerrymandering, the wrecking of our healthcare system and on and on..this is better than having another 3rd way Democrat...is foolish and reminds me of the Trump people, more and more.

Trump voter: If Jesus Christ told me Trump colluded with Russia, I’d check with Trump

you are so set in your distrust of Clinton this is OK with you...wow. not much difference between you and the man who doesn't believe Jesus. Just think only 3 more years to go.

I never said it was ok, that's you putting words in my mouth.

What I'm tired of, is you screeching rats claiming that your precious Hillary Clinton wouldn't do this stuff, when she very much would have.

Her own voting record should tell you as much.
bbqkink said[1] @ 11:47pm GMT on 21st Nov
She is not precious and you are brainwashed. There has never been a president like Trump. No Clinton was not what I wanted but to put her and Trump in the same sentence is foolish.
To put Nixon and Trump in the same sentence is an insult to Nixon...are you blind?

And if you are not OK with this you have to see the only other option was Clinton so...
Ussmak said @ 12:26am GMT on 22nd Nov
Does your reading comprehension just dissolve the second Trump or Clinton are mentioned in the same context?

She lost because she was completely unelectable. She was completely unelectable because of her history. Deal with it.

bbqkink said @ 12:29am GMT on 22nd Nov
She was unelectable but Trump was an all American hero...God how did your mind get so screwed up.
The only reason she was unelectable was years of brainwashing that seams to have an effect on you....and the entire world is dealing with it thanks to you and those like you
Ussmak said @ 12:51am GMT on 22nd Nov
Yes, because I spent my entire adult life watching Hillary Clinton lie, cheat and steal her way to the top, I'm automatically snowed by the reality show star who's hair looks like cotton candy made out of piss.

But I'm the one who's "brainwashed" after all, so I'm sure you'll just chock this sentiment up to my "fascist conditioning."

But since Hillary has turned you into the same kind of dogmatic cretin you claim to be the complete opposite of, people voting their conscience is considered the same as voting for your perceived enemy.

I didn't choose the oligarch Trump, but never in a million fucking years will I support the oligarch Clinton either.

This is the classic definition of can’t see the forest for the trees.
If the democrats ran someone the rust belt didn’t loathe (with good reason. Clinton policies did not leave them well off) trump would not have had a chance in hell.

All they needed to do was run someone semi-palatable.

Bernie had no business doing as well as he did in a serious primary.
milkman666 said @ 4:48pm GMT on 22nd Nov
I myself have expressed distaste for the idea of tactical voting. The idea that you should rush to meet in the wonderful middle, instead of pushing where the middle is.

To be fair, you have made the argument that the pushing should be done during the rest of the year and at the local level. Which i agree with.

One reason Hillary lost was because a lot of people were convinced to sit out the election. You like to hammer the point home by telling people they fucked up for not picking the lesser evil. Ussmak has their own rational for sitting out. Abstaining, silence, is a valid response.

To be fair though, the russians did use bots and paid trolls to suppress democrats from voting. Using social media to keep demonizing the Clintons. By making it feel as if a vote for Hilary was just as terrible as a vote for Trump. Just enough to sap the desire for someone to head to the polls, for what a lot of people assumed was a slam dunk for Hilary.

Your target audience, honestly, is on facebook.

No it is stupid and lazy. there seems to be a disconnect here...Donald Trump is a Fascist Nazi and people act like it is OK to accept him and No big deal that he got elected....I'm not going to try and defend Clinton other than to say she is light years better than Trump for the country....Which is the bone I have to pick with the 'Progresives" here.

The feeling is palpable...it has caused some people to have to see a doctor over depression it has caused. You can't watch TV without hearing about what thing he has done today. Somebody counted and has attributed 19 provable lies a day average. His own staff has called him a fucking moron, childlike and stupid.

He has endanger people lives by trying to take healthcare, threatens to ship back the dreamer kids to a place they have never known on their own, has made the US a laughing stock around the world...and mad me listen to that sick love song from the thug in the Philippines...ohh that hurt.....

And to say that Clinton Administration would be anything like that is beyond naive.
Trump is a wrecking ball that is going to kill people long after he is gone and it could have been prevented.

Oh with hindsight of course. I imagine there are droves who wish they turned out or voted different. That does fuck all since we can't time travel. You can live life looking to sell out in hope of either coming out ahead or avoiding a potential horrible fate. But in that case i have a republican tax plan to sell you. The 1% pwomise to trickle down on us.

Nobody expected the extent of this shitshow. The straight up rank incompetence, or intentional sabotage of the federal government. Nobody is happy with the current state of events except the Russians. Even the well to do are silently freaking out if the tax plan will precipiate an abrupt move to new zealand due to incoming molotovs.

Trump is here because the GOP told their members to hold their nose, lie back, and think of sweet eight pound six ounce baby jesus. Roy Moore if he squeeks by will owe that victory to the same sentiment. Those voters are balls to bone certain that to do otherwise is to open that final seal of the apocalypse. They will suck satans cock to reanimate jimmy savile to run against a democrat if it would mean one more vote.

The democrats are not there yet, and i think the perennial invocation of slippery slope is bullshit. But im not going to go chicken little and back someone i think is horrible because thats what the "team" wants.

I did vote for hilary though. She's a bad bitch, and maybe its the virtue of being a new yorker that meant i knew trump was at best a shitty used tire salesman, at worst a conman. I don't begrudge people who didn't though, i just wish we resolved some of the serious underlying problems that made this presidency possible,

Bernie Sanders: Think Hard About A Protest Vote This Year

This was the sort of response.

Reveal
You're so focused on Trump not being allowed to win that you're not questioning why he's likely going to win. This is what happens when you exact class warfare on a people who have no other methods of retaliation, they start putting all their resources towards one big weapon in hopes of making a dramatic enough impact that it will turn the tides of their fate in one swoop. Bernie was a our liberal equivalent, different ideologies, same mechanism. The places where Bernie won and lost are indicative of what liberal areas of the country are suffering the most right now.

There's always going to be a Trump and they're just going to continue to get worse. But Trump is not the disease, Trump is the symptom. Voting for somebody who embodies the ideology of the disease is not going to lessen the symptoms nor cure us of the disease
.

Choosing the lesser evil sacrifices your ideals and sabotages your future behavior.

List of Republicans who opposed the Donald Trump presidential campaign, 2016

Trump won for several reasons..1st and foremost Clinton ran a terrible campaine

2nd Trump (mostly Bannon) ran a phony populist campaine in the upper Midwest

3rd and probably determintive was the James Comey presser 10 days before the election because it reinforced the campaine ran by Russia.

A catspaw for Putin? The GOP figured they could use him, even if they didn't like him as their first choice. The democratic party considered him a joke, who at worst would just rubber stamp shitty regressive policies. The rightwing political shift is not a shocker. Its distasteful and problematic but it pales to the actual credible existential threat. Now we're always hovering at 4 seconds on the doomsday clock, and every other day we wonder if theres going to be a constitutional crisis. I'm sure before the election you'd have people screaming the end is nigh, but that chorus was wearing both red and blue.

By all means though, keep trying your particular flavor of voter outreach. Its just that i don't think its effective in changing minds or behavior. Great way at working out frustration though.

I have no more hope of convincing any of you than convincing the Trump faithful. I'm am just sick of you pious preaching when you have no clue how any of this works.

And to have you say

Bernie sold us out.

I could really give a fuck who he supports now.

Just pissed me off and made me realize just how clueless you are...do you know somebody like him comes along once in a life time...the last one was Bobby Kennedy and they killed him. Bernie has gotten closer and has done more good than any politician you could name...and just for reference you..specifically you are the one who sold out...People die for the right you threw away...and Bernie is a national hero...I generally don't talk to people who didn't vote...so have the last word be my guest.

A Trump presidency was going to be bad for democrats. A Hilary presidency was going to be bad for republicans. Accusations of personal enrichment i think were valid for both candidates. From my own perspective a Democrat win was important because I knew the republican agenda would endanger friends and family at worst, complicate their lives at best. But i think in light of the mueller investigation and everything else thats come out after the election its obvious that this president is an existential crisis for the nation, in a way that can't be dismissed as just tribal party affiliation.

The only real thing i disagree with you is the stridency with which you present, because it becomes almost second nature then to dismiss. There is no shortage of people on youtube staring into webcams starting off with "America needs to wake up!". It becomes something you tune out. Its like hearing someone yell "My friend!" and then trundle up with a massive wheeled luggage stuffed with counterfeit/third-shift kangol hats and puffy north face jackets. You mentally hit auto ignore.
