I'm far from thrilled about Biden or Harris; I've never been a fan of either. But there's no question that with Biden in the White House there's at least the possibility of a continued national debate about how to deal with healthcare, the climate crisis, the exploitive economy, or any of the other ways in which American capitalism is badly broken. I'm not optimistic at all that Biden or the Wall Street establishment that backs him will listen and do what's necessary. But unless the Dumpster Fire is removed, there is no conversation and no hope at all. If he doesn't leave office the country is done.

It's not 100% certain, but it looks like there may be (microbial) life on Venus. So 2020 isn't completely without good news. Though it wouldn't surprise me if this turned out to just be the discovery of some new abiotic process instead, it's that kind of year.
