quote [ After mounting pressure from lawmakers to step down, British Prime Minister Theresa May announced her resignation, effective June 7, 2019. ]
"Ms. May will be exiting soon,
On Friday the 7th of June.
Her job, when she?s gone,
Will likely pass on
To BoJo, a famous buffoon."
- @Limericking - please follow them if you havent they are great.
Using "compromise is not a dirty word" while continuing to push the idea that ?No deal is better than a bad deal" would be disappointing if not unexpected. opinion piece in extended

quote [ Lawmakers debated three different bills to legalize same-sex unions and the government's bill, the most progressive of the three, was passed...
The two other bills, submitted by conservative lawmakers, refer to partnerships as "same-sex family relationships" or "same-sex unions" rather than "marriages".
But the government's bill, also the only one to offer limited adoption rights, was passed by 66 to 27 votes - backed by lawmakers from the majority Democratic Progressive Party. ]
It was raining like at noon, the rain stopped and the sun came out in the afternoon just when the law was passed making an Actual rainbow as a nice coincidence.

quote [ The House Judiciary Committee voted to hold Attorney General William P. Barr in contempt after President Trump asserted executive privilege over the full Mueller report. ]
Full article in extended (avoid the NYT paywall). For a report that said "totally exonerated" he sure seems hell-bent on making sure it isn't released.
Also - The Senate Intelligence Committee just subpoenad Donald Trump Jr.

quote [ Speaking at, of all places, the Auschwitz death camp in Poland on Thursday, Ambassador David Friedman told the Times of Israel he is skeptical about the Anti-Defamation League?s just-released annual audit of anti-Semitic incidents, which the group said showed ?near-historic levels of anti-Semitism in 2018, including a doubling of anti-Semitic assaults and the single deadliest attack against the Jewish community in American history.?
Asked about the audit?s findings, Friedman said, ?I doubt it. I haven?t studied it." ]
Way to read a fucking room, shit goblin.
I swear I saw "Speaking At Auschwitz" and "Well, no, I didn't actually READ the report per-SE" and really thought that this was an onion piece when I first saw it.

A protest organiser said they planned "a week of activities" including a bid to prevent MPs entering Parliament.

quote [ And to be clear, even after he left ABC in 2009, they still continued to make these videos. There?s an organization which we?ll get into later called the Center for Independent Thought, ironically enough independent thought that is funded entirely by Howard Rich, who?s kind of a Koch disciple, fellow billionaire, helped Koch run for president in the ?80s, they distribute these videos to children. So we?re going to play these clips from these ABC Stossel segments from the ?90s and 2000s and the one thing we want you to keep in mind is that these are repackaged and played in schools. ]
Transcript of the episode if you'd rather read.
So, in reading Dark Money, one of the things I found so villainous of the methodologies utilized by the Koch Brothers and their cohorts was that in addition to attacking public schools from multiple angles, whether it was via funding or teachers' unions, they also play the other side by often funding non-profits which would make libertarian propaganda available to schools under the guise of a neutral facade. Stossel, as it turns out, was/is the face of one of those projects.

quote [ Thousands of Berlin residents took to the streets on Saturday to vent anger over surging rents and demand the expropriation of more than 200,000 apartments sold off to big private landlords, which they blame for changing the character of the city.
Activists have started collecting signatures for a ballot proposal that would require the city to take back properties from any landlord that owns more than 3,000 apartments. Polls suggest such a measure could pass, forcing the city to consider spending billions of euros buying privatised housing back. ]
I am in no way endorsing violence towards landlords, but these artists are. :P

quote [ As you all know, one of our biggest causes is supporting measures that help preserve the free and open internet, which is under threat worldwide from those who want to exercise more control over how you access the web at large. We don?t think that?s right, and feel strongly that users should be able to access all websites (including Reddit!) with equal ease and speed. No one?not the government, and not ISPs?should interfere in what sites you choose to visit. ]
I swear to god I hear about these things at the last minute. Anywho, I'm pretty sure my state's congressional representatives are on board for this, but you still got a day if you want to contact yours and tell them how you feel about keeping the internet neutral.
