quote [ The UK Home Office is secretly creating a centralised database on the good folk of Britain without presenting the capability increases to the public or subjecting them to Parliamentary scrutiny. ]

One thing that interests me about this, apart from the privacy concerns, hacking potential, and authoritarian abuse, I wonder what they'll do when the system encounters contradictions?

I had my identity stolen by a thief who used it to get his utilities turned on in a Texas apartment. The utility company wouldn't take it off my credit record until the thief was arrested, even though I'd sent them more info than I've ever needed for a loan. As far as they're concerned, I stole from them. Government records, however, should show me living in two states at once during that time period, as well as whatever other things the thief did with my name that I never discovered. Then there's just plain human error in record keeping. I wonder what the policy is if they run across something like this, or if it's even a concern?

Are you insinuating The Computer is capable of making mistakes, Citizen?

Few computers make mistakes (though I dig the Paranoia reference). I'm just curious how they think they'll handle the Garbage-In, Garbage-Out problem, or if that's even crossed their minds.

The information will probably get a reliability rating and when contradictions come into play the rating will drop so the system knows to put less faith in the knowledge offered.

As long as Theresa May can finally put an end to Harry Tuttle's reign of terrorism, that's all that matters, right?

It will be funny if two AI decide to nuke each other.

Especially if they're both in the same country.
