SensibleEndowment's 10 year anniversary

quote [ Traditionally, tin or aluminum is meant to commemorate the 10th wedding anniversary. Known for their resilience and inability to rust, they symbolize the durability of your marriage. But if you want to give—or receive—a bit more glamorous of a gift, you might prefer the more modern 10th-anniversary theme of diamonds. ]

Since the last ten years have beaten the spark out of me, I've asked chatGPT to write you a thank you letter. Be sure to thank the handful of folks you see with subscriber badges, they're the ones keeping the site online.

Dear Sensible Endowment Community,

As we celebrate our ten-year anniversary, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey we've embarked on together. A decade ago, Sensible Endowment was merely an idea—a space where like-minded individuals could gather to share their passions, interests, and ideas without fear of judgment or ridicule. Today, it stands as a vibrant community bustling with creativity, camaraderie, and intellectual curiosity.

I want to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you who has contributed to our community over the years. Whether you've been with us since the beginning or joined us more recently, your presence, contributions, and engagement have been the lifeblood of Sensible Endowment. It's your diverse perspectives, insightful discussions, and unwavering support that have shaped this community into what it is today.

Together, we've weathered challenges, celebrated triumphs, and forged lasting connections. From thought-provoking debates to heartwarming moments of camaraderie, our journey together has been nothing short of extraordinary. As we look ahead to the future, I am filled with excitement and optimism for what the next ten years will bring.

On this momentous occasion, let's take a moment to celebrate how far we've come and the countless memories we've created along the way. Here's to the past, present, and future of Sensible Endowment—to the friendships forged, the knowledge shared, and the adventures yet to come.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your unwavering support and dedication. Here's to another decade of inspiration, enlightenment, and community.

Warm regards,

Frig... I stumbled on the old SE over 22 years ago (found it through a link on sexylosers way back when, so I still remember the comic that was up). Can't remember how exactly I found the new site after the old one went down but here we are. Wonder if Matt and Tristan and the other old guard are still lurking in the bushes.

I don't know if I found OG SE through sexylosers or the other way around, but it sounds like we are of a similar era

I remember when this was all farmland, far as the eye could see.

Oh well … your sarcasm is but a thin veil covering deep sympathies for this little internet shack. It will take just another weak moment for you to open registrations again.

100% grateful for you keeping this place running.

The internet is better for its variety and what is this place if not various.

10 years!!!
I've been in a bit of a daze over the last little while.
- and what I mean is of course - for the last 4 or 5 years.
The Pandemic and general shutdown ate huge amounts of people's time and social lives and now as I've almost hit 60 I can feel that weird time shortening that the body starts to do. (seriously fuck aging biology)
But, I've been here for the erections and elections and will continue to do so as long as this place exists. Everything makes me think but some things make me laugh, some make me cry and some things make me horny.
Appreciation as always.

I too am very grateful this place still exists and I appreciate the effort and care in keeping this place alive. I've almost 25 years of visiting SE v1 and then SE v2 under my belt. Like Bob Denver above, this place gives me a feeling of comfort. Especially in the face of the continuous enshitification of the Internet™ as a whole.

Thanks for keeping the flame alive. Been around since the old SE, much less pr0n these days, but still has good reads.

But you still have to jack off a horse.

Cheers! To another 10. 20+ years of lurking for me now as I've found this place back in college times.
