I found this pretty cool. I thought it was someone like Bing Crosby who named it. I like the big, dark cherries when they're nice and cold but bings are pretty good too.

Cherry season is fun around here because the prices fluxuate rather wildly as crops come in. If you go in on the right day you can find Raniers for as cheap as Bings usually are, and once you try those you realize why they're usually so expensive.

My ex wife was a huge Bing cherry fan. I had never heard of them until I married her in my late 30s.
