i understand the desire to replicate a rare system like the Neo Geo, but why go through all this trouble to perfectly replicate an NES or SNES when the original hardware is still relatively easy to come by?

I was there for the first time this year. It was pretty cool, but I was disappointed at the severe lack of details. Pretty much all the vendors were just checking online prices and not really trying to entice people with details. It was almost like they didn't want to sell anything they couldn't have sold in their b&m or online store.

Yeah, you have to work real hard to actually find something interesting and/or a good deal. Most of the stuff there is just "I could find this on ebay any day"....
