Reported "inside source": Valve is basically afraid to make Half Life 3

quote [ Say it ain't so, Gaben! Half-Life 3 will never release, and what's worse, Valve wants it that way. We have multiple sources all confirming this... ]

According to these guys and a reported inside source from within Valve, Valve is not planning on making HL3, Ever. The conclusion from these guys "The Know", is that Valve is currently making so much money with Steam sales and other titles, and HL3 is so anticipated, that is can only fall short of expectations and end up hurting Valve's reputation. Course, all this is just a rumor, and possibly even clickbait nonsense shit.

Personally I think that is unlikely.

Their VR is being released at the end of year. Unless they have been working on VR HL3 in secret for the last 3 years (!!!) I don't think that is going to be their launch strategy. The technology would not even have been mature enough for them to have a target to design to.

I would put my money on something like Portal. It has mass appeal (e.g. kid friendly), possibilities for really vivid mind-bending effects, simple environments that won't be overwhelming for first-time users, and it can be a short experience that doesn't have to live up to an AAA standard to be successful.
