Basic Income, Not Basic Jobs: Against Hijacking Utopia

quote [ Social responsibility. Sense of purpose. Community. Meaningful ways to spend your time. This is some big talk for promoting jobs that in real life are probably going to involve a lot of “Do you want fries with that?” ]

I am sick of the hive mind robot Apocalypse they are coming to take over...bullshit.
Seeing what is in your minds is easy you have been preaching it for years. There is a group here who mostly work in the tech industry overly enamored with their own work so much they think it will bring down our economy....well maybe....in the future.

I am just tiered of this cult of the future Apocalypse getting in the way of actual concrete ways to make poor peoples lives better...they are hard to come by and your futurist book club is part of the problem.

I am totally against this. Maybe basic jobs are better than nothing, but I have an absolute 100% revulsion at the idea of implementing basic jobs as an alternative to basic income. Before getting into the revulsion itself, I want to bring up some more practical objections:

Maybe better than nothing?...fuck me. Just like this giy you think your vision of things to come supersedes reality and a real need NOW. You all are so isolated in your bubble all you hear is your own echoes coming back to you.

Poo Poo anything that doen't fit into your dystopian narrative, ignoring things that could be done now, because they make actually work and lower the need for your solution of choice.

There are things we should be doing now...Organizing Unions, raising the Minimum wage. Medicare for all, job training programs...a lot. But you just like the guy who wrote this article are obstructions to the good because you are convinced in your vision of the future...no political way to get it done but still you block what could be done to help in the here and now...it's just getting on my nerves.

P.S. Stelle didn't make a comment he just gave a one word condescending remark...just like you...you all maybe right...the robots maybe coming to take our jobs...but hat is not the problem we face today, and just how long shoul peole be made to suffer waiting on you vision?

He acts like UBI is a real alternative...a political possibility. It is a pie in the sky that couldn't get a vote in either house of congress.
