I think they were doing directly through the oculus sdk, although i could be mistaken. I'll try to search for some more info. If nothing else, i'll see the dev in may and i'll ask then.

This shit looks like something an owl themed superhero/villain would wear. :D
LeapMotion is the real deal though. I've got their earlier hand tracking unit and used it with an HTC vive about a year ago in such a way that it caused me to disassociate from my hands for about 20 minutes after. Pretty sweet.
