After Underage Sex Comments, Milo Yiannopoulos Loses CPAC Invite, Book Deal

quote [ The American Conservative Union disinvited the far-right provocateur citing comments it said condoned "pedophilia." Hours later, Simon & Schuster said it was canceling the publication of his book.
...
These actions come in the wake of a social media backlash against Yiannopoulos after the conservative news outlet The Reagan Battalion tweeted videos on Sunday in which Yiannopoulos appears to condone statutory rape and sexual relationships between boys and men. ]

Professional alt-right outrage-generator is seeing his world shrinking. He was OK as long as he was just being racist, misogynist, typical conservative. Talk about sucking teen dick is over the line.

I guess the snowflakes on the right hate the free speech now.

this is totally an aside, but resorting to calling the Right the same names that they call the Left (Snowflake, cucks, triggered, etc) is cringe worthy.

Let's be bigger k?

edit: Also, I'm so glad I got to watch him on Real Time with Bill Mahr on Friday, the day before this all blew up. It allowed me to form my own opinion and enjoy this meltdown SO much more :) :)

"Snowflake" should be reserved for insulting lefties?
cakkafracle said @ 11:20pm GMT on 21st Feb
yes, thats exactly the point I was trying to make

I saw the Bill Maher show, Larry Wilmore and Malcolm Nance were great.

After seeing videos of him, he just strikes me as a massive attention whore/troll. Why do we give people like this the attention they so clearly crave? Why am I giving him this attention by writing this comment?
HoZay said @ 12:47pm GMT on 21st Feb
Clearly, this is all your fault.
slaytanik said @ 12:57pm GMT on 21st Feb
SORRY GAIZ
steele said @ 4:11pm GMT on 21st Feb
Technically, slaytanik is the victim here. You are the carrier.

It's called going viral for a reason. Just because you don't believe in the message you're spreading doesn't mean you're not contributing to it reaching susceptible minds. This is what lilmookieesquire, and the rest of bbqkink's "amigos" are going on about when we talk about the endless Trump posts being a part of his reelection campaign. Endless spreading of his message by the "outraged" was basically how he won the Republican primaries and contributed heavily to his election win.
slaytanik said @ 5:08pm GMT on 21st Feb
I don't like being a victim. Can I rather be a pathogen?
I'd be a kickass pathogen.
Doing pathogen stuffs.
Yeah.
steele said @ 5:12pm GMT on 21st Feb
Maybe... What are your qualifications?
bbqkink said @ 5:24pm GMT on 21st Feb
Ahh the one who shall not be named ...again. If we just ignore this it will all go away. That strategy didn't work any better in Hogwarts than it did with Trump.

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”

The only thing sticking you head in the sand does is get sand in you ears...If you see something say something.
steele said @ 5:29pm GMT on 21st Feb
There's a difference between not sticking your head in the sand and being the guy's free PR firm.
bbqkink said @ 5:43pm GMT on 21st Feb
If you just retweet you are PR...call them out on the ugliness of what they are doing you become the opposition. Use what ever influence you have...or pretend it doesn't exist.

Preaching to the choir and patting yourself on the back doesn't make you opposition. It makes you a predictable tool.

Besides Bernie stuff, the best link you've dropped lately has been the Lakoff interview you said 'may be total bull.'

"Preaching to the choir and patting yourself on the back" since when have you been singing from my hymnbook?

I am the one who said Trump Must be stopped at all cost...you, not so much. Your theroy was and is sticking you head in the sand. Trump is just another Republican we will have one sooner or latter, vote for the Green it doesn't make any difference.

That is not being a tool...that is being a fool.

"Besides Bernie stuff" now you can call me a tool there because I am I am a progressive Democrat.but if you are talking about the current crop of racist and Bolsheviks we have in power. I would argue tool fits your position much more than me. I did everything I could do to stop Trump including trying to convince you.

The Lakoff interview may be total bull it is not scientific it is an opinion...one I agreed with. I would suggest you re read it get your head out of the sand and join the opposition...words mater.

That WAS a great post.

Right? Totally underrated and totally downplayed in its presentation. 39 clicks.
lilmookieesquire said @ 11:12am GMT on 22nd Feb
I almost want to take the hit for reposting it. Does 39 clicks even merit a repost?

I think you'll be wasting your time, the psych/cognitive stuff just doesn't play well here.
milkman666 said @ 5:40pm GMT on 21st Feb
So you're arguing we should be vaccinating ourselves to such deleterious messages in order to protect those that are compromised in their intellectual immunity? I guess that would be accomplished by exposure to the original message that's been properly crippled, like say one thats been roasted by a comedian?

I could go further but i hate straining analogies, and to be honest attributing properties beyond the nature of its progression to the phrase "going viral" does that already. We live in a time where communication and messaging power structures are shifting. So we get instances of things like trolls, who monetize, cottage industry rumor mongers, and blitzkrieg bullshit artists who tweet hyperbole at a rapid clip. The public reacts, we get a bit of chaos, we learn from it and do our best to grokk this new thing where we no longer have the luxury of taking our information in leisurely.

We live in a torrent of information now, and cutting off the flow isn't the answer, we just need to develop new filters and protocols. That will be the challenge, learning to weather the storm and live in it instead of retreating.
steele said @ 6:28pm GMT on 21st Feb
It's not so much about vaccination or inoculation, it's about suppression of exposure. Encouraging competing, productive narratives while giving the negative narratives as little exposure as possible. That's why satire hasn't really work, it produces just as much exposure of the negative narrative as the outrage culture does. Not only that, but in its own way, it's a form of bullying that encourages us vs. them narratives.

Perhaps one of the best bits of advice on the topic came from Fred Rogers. He said, “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”

The main character of a story will almost always, given enough exposure, become perceived as the hero/anti-hero of the story. And the viewer/reader will realign their ideals around that character's words and actions. That's why in order to control the narrative you need to find the helper, the fighter in the negative narrative so that they become the focus of the story. The hero that people will project themselves onto.

It seems that Chuck Todd agrees with you. He wouldn't even say his name On "Meet the Press" today.

Milo Yiannopoulos is a sophist, and like all sophist once attention was paid to what he was actually saying people shut him down.

This is why we let our philosophical opponents speak their minds, because that is often the best cure for their sort of poison.

In this case, Milo went onto a youtube chat with youtube atheist and progressives known as the Drunken Peasants where he made a defence of ebophilia (sexual attraction to people going through puberty as opposed to prior like pedophilia.)

Milo like most trolls failed to realize when they were bigger than their core audience. Milo is a troll, famous with Red Pillers due to Gamegate. However, as the spokesmen for what has become an establishment media corporation (Breitbart) he is now beholden to the tender sensibilities of the Christian mindset he said atheist were wrong about.

It's a good day for people that value intelligence and spite.
knumbknutz said @ 4:32am GMT on 22nd Feb
Annnnd -he's gone from Breitbart.

He just quit before they could fire his ass
