Unfortunately, my taste in metal is mostly all stuff from before then, as well. However (in roughly alphabetical order)...
3 Inches of Blood: Advance and Vanquish and Fire Up The Blades. The lead singer is named Cam Pipes of all fucking, things, and does a Rob Halford impression better than the real thing. Amon Amarth: Fate of Norns. Viking metal. Finntroll: Nattfödd. Folk metal, and proof that an accordion is metal as fuck. Lamb of God: As the Palaces Burn, Ashes of the Wake, and Sacrament. Sadly, I can't recommend anything after Sacrament, it's really their peak. Mastodon: Blood Mountain and Leviathan Nightwish: Once. Symphonic metal, and for the love of god fucking ignore the whole goddamned Tarja/Annette argument. Sabaton: Attero Dominatus is my favorite but pick anything. War-themed. Seriously kick-ass. Christopher Lee: Charlemagne: the Omens of Death. Yes, that Christopher Lee. That's everything off the top of my head post-2001. I'm forgetting a shitload of stuff here. |

That's an odd mix of cliches. They have to be poking fun at themselves. I hope.

Its a satyre of rap an regaetton music. With all the big butts around and a competition, and then the hot lady with the big guns ending the debate. Put any rapper instead of Mastodon and you'll see what I mean. By, the way, I fell in love like five times watching the video. I like my women the way I like my coffee: Hot, with sugar and a bit of milk. And maybe some rum also.

I didn't even realize that there was a new Mastodon album out.
After giving it a good listen, though, I have to say it's my favorite Mastodon album yet. |

I've been trying to get back into metal, haven't been a regular listener for about 13 years.
Hell, I just recently listened to Sleep. Any recommends? |

The heavier music I still listen to on a fairly regular basis: Tyr, Amon Amarth, Devin Townsend, Mastodon, Opeth.
I've gotten soft in my old age and really don't enjoy the brutal shit anymore. |

When I got out of highschool I switched to indie bullshit, then to punk, then jazz, now I am sort of musically homeless.
But I bought a nicer guitar then I am used to, and when I plug it in and go, metal comes out, so I've been wanting to go with the flow and also listen to some. |

I'll say just mix everything. I have Jazz, Metal, Classic, Salsa and other stuff in my music player and go from one to the other as I feel like. The good thing about Metal is that it can be fussioned with all other stuff and get interesting results. Examples: Mastodon, Arcturus, Scar Symmetry, Dark Tranquillity, Avatarium, Opeth, Triptykon, Djerv, and any others. Let Google and Youtube be your guide.
