Fireball meteor makes spectacular Midwest appearance

quote [ A flaming meteor was spotted early Monday in the lower sky across the Midwest, giving a rare up-close look of the phenomenon, which was caught on video, the National Weather Service said. ]

Just a quickie. I hadn't heard about this until now. Some nice footage of the fireball on CNN.

Every time I read about something like this I'm mostly disappointed I didn't get to see it.

I saw one while driving back in the 90s, although not nearly as dramatic. It was more like a good firework, but going in the wrong direction and probably 1/20 as bright as this one.

We were able to see the remains of the contrail(?) when we were in the corn west of Chicago Sunday night. Pretty neat.
