Completely 'locked-in' patients can communicate

This tech combined with VR and artificial neural networks is what I dream about at night. ❤️️

Lately I've been on a somewhat anti-technology kick, with all the big-brother-bullshit and people losing the ability to interact normally rather than heads dow non their phones.

Then I see stuff like this and I remember it's not the tech that's the problem, it's the people using it, and sometimes they do incredible things.

Also, I dream about titties and talking animals a lot. But never talking animals with titties because that would be weird.

Indeed. Because of the children's charity I volunteer with I've been put in contact with a lot children with Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy over the years and have a put a lot of thought into how something like that might be treated. It's my hope that techniques similar to this one may be capable of reversing muscular dystrophy:

Scientists have found a way to make paraplegics move again

Not in some kind of magical way, but by using what we know about data mining with tech like VR and EEG to pull apart the internal processes that make up behaviors we normally identify as a placebo response and leverage them to form an actual treatment. I've been evangilizing this stuff for years now and I gotta say, knowing what I know and seeing how things are playing, out I'm very confident in the potential of what we're going to be able to do.

But yeah, the Big Brother potential is just as high as the medical potential. At some point we're going to need to start fighting for control of the personal information that's being stolen from us and demand regulation and consequences for the information war being waged against our individual sovereignty.

Also, talking titties are obviously where it's at.

Given the scam of facilitated communication I need a whole lot of proof on this topic. If they can demonstrate an answer that only the patent could know that requires more than a yes/no answer I'll believe it.

my "favorite" is the note that a locked-in father refused to give his daughter permission to marry her boyfriend. She did it anyway; what was he going to do about it?
