Kamikaze assassination micro-drones are nigh!
Are you prepared?

quote [ From studying trends in drone development, both in terms of software and hardware, I am now predicting the development of facial-recognition "kamikaze micro drones" capable of carrying out targeted human assassination missions with remarkable precision and reliability. What if anyone could kill almost anyone else for about five thousand dollars? All this means more and more people will someday need to hide their faces if they wish to venture out into the open world. ]

Thumb from CV Dazzle, which offers style tips for camouflaging yourself from the facial recognition of kamikaze assassination micro-drones.

Also consider a Personal Surveillance Identity Prosthetic, such as offered by URME Surveillance.

Will owning one of those protect me?

While Bodyguard Blankets should stop a serrated spear, kamikaze assassination micro-drones can strike at any second without warning. You will probably not have enough time to duck and cover. The best defense is to avoid being a target via facial camouflage or not ever being important enough to kill.

Is madpride back?!

Madpride wasn't an individual, but a state of mind. We are all madpride now.

Ugh. "NaturalNews," a villainous hive of woo and malarky.

I have to go do one of the top five toxin-cleansing diet plans to restore balance to my humors and protect myself from GMOs as outlined in 99% of their "articles."

Don't kamikaze micro-drone assassinate the messenger.

But it's an interesting idea. And the only dubious appeal to authority is his own study of trends in technology, which is something that experts and amateurs seem to understand equally poorly.
Dumbledorito said @ 11:22pm GMT on 12th Jun
It's also an old idea. Ever since facial recognition software was shown to even marginally work, lots of futurists have come out of the woodwork to show how cyberpunk "fashion" is all that stands between you and being watched, getting killed, etc.

At this point, I'd almost accuse the author of plagiarism. And drinking too much fluoridated water laced with aspartame.

Somehow reminds me of this Fireball XL5 episode.

This is the opening scene in Dune.
Dumbledorito said @ 11:26pm GMT on 12th Jun
The opening scene after the Emperor meets the Spacing Guild Navigator, the Bene Gesserit use the box on Paul, the Baron reveals his plans to his sons, House Atreides arrives on Arrakis, the Duke impresses the Fremen, and Paul tries Spice for the first time?

That opening scene?

I think he must have read Une, the Badly Abridged edition.

Is that the North Korean version?
midden said @ 4:37pm GMT on 13th Jun
Wow, really? It has been 25 or 30 years since I read it. In my memory it starts with Paul in bed, listening to adults talking politics and the dangers of the move to Arakis. After things quiet down, the hunter/seeker comes into the room.
arrowhen said @ 7:53pm GMT on 13th Jun
It's been about that long for me, too. I remember it as: sword fight training scene, some kind of political stuff that I only skimmed because I was 9, hunter-seeker scene.

But Anky, I'm just a regular fellow minding my own business. Surely I needn't be concerned about kamikaze assassination micro-drones!

Imagine the irony of setting a hojillion of these things set to home in on and destroy Guy Fawkes.

This was so done in the matrix trilogy when the machines attacked Zion and they piloted the most retarded looking mechs in the world.

After I saw those mechs, I wanted the machines to win.

This is bad news for old people. Most facial recognition software has problems with people over 65. And since a lot of targets are going to be in that age group (senior politicians and business people tend to be, well, senior), I suspect there's going to be a lot of mistakes made. It might be time for grandma to start going about with a ski mask on.
