People are violent because their morality demands it

Nice explanation attempt, drawing a line from wife-beater husbands through terrorist suicide bombers up to drone-killings. Everyone thinks they're morally justified or even obligated to use violence.

At the same time, it's a pretty depressing theory: You may be able to change a single person's morality by confronting them with other people important to him. But how are you supposed to change the morality that drives an entire nation, or an entire culture?

I fail to see how your plug fits my socket, metaphorically speaking.

And no, I won't bend over so that you can show me.

For one thing stop telling stories that glorify violent heroes. Not just in our entertainment but our news as well.

Ooh, now that makes sense. So, for example, more movies about non-violent heroes like... like...

Exactly! Or like Jesus!

As a German, I would have to mention that the correct expletive to use if you see Jesus running up your stream of urination is "Scheiße", not "Ficken". The latter infinitive is only used in a sexual context, though you can get "gefickt" ("fucked") in German even outside of sexual encounters, much like you can in English.

Bend over.

Sorry, already ruled that out, very non-metaphorically.

The explanation is very sound. Samurai beheaded their enemies and disemboweled themselves to retain their honor. The winner and the loser both agree.

The Bible has "Show no pity: life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot." - Deuteronomy 19:21

Immaterial concepts and ideas taken to heart.

The simplest answer is you can't. "... if we really want to solve the problem of violence, there is nothing for it. We have to risk a kind of understanding that threatens our own values, our own way of life. We have to gaze into an abyss."

I know people who celebrated the Ferguson and Baltimore riots. They were literally giddy that it was happening and kept quoting MLK's "riots are the voice of the unheard."

Teen smoking in the US is significantly much lower than ever thanks to anti-smoking campaigns, overwhelming evidence of lung cancer and other respiratory diseases linked to smoking, and the modern attitude and aversion to smoking in general.

Maybe someone already had the answer to stopping violence, but they were killed.

Ferguson/Baltimore: What people keep forgetting about MLK was that he wasn't telling people to rise up and riot so that their voices would be heard. In a very descriptive manner, much like above article, MLK explained that if people riot, it's because they think they have no other way of getting themselves noticed.
