quote [ When Hobby Lobby filed its case against Obamacare's contraception mandate, its retirement plan had more than $73 million invested in funds with stakes in contraception makers. ]
The level of duplicity does not surprise me. Pity this didn't come to light sooner?before the Supreme Court arguments.
"Several of the mutual funds in Hobby Lobby's retirement plan have holdings in companies that manufacture the specific drugs and devices that the Green family, which owns Hobby Lobby, is fighting to keep out of Hobby Lobby's health care policies: the emergency contraceptive pills Plan B and Ella, and copper and hormonal intrauterine devices."

There are plenty of better arguments to make against Hobby Lobby's case -- this is a distraction. Seriously, in a world of diversified investments in which you hire someone else to manage your funds, does it really matter that they have money in these companies? Does owning stock in a company necessarily mean that you support them, or does it just mean that you think they will be profitable? All I see here is misplaced outrage that distracts from the real issue we should be debating - corporate vs individual rights.

Does it matter that contraceptive medicine can be used for non-contraceptive purposes? Seriously, in a world where women take such drugs so their periods are less painful or debilitating and you aren't personally prescribing them, does it really matter what choices people are making with regards to their health?

Although to be fair, the Democratic mayor of Charlotte, NC was arrested for taking bribes that were supposedly an investment in a feminine hygiene product. You can't make this shit up. |

Reminds me when Lubbock was a dry town and you couldn't buy booze in the city limits, but it was those Baptists who kept the ban going who owned all the booze package stores outside of the town.
