The Great Lightbulb Conspiracy Part 2: The Ultra Efficient Bulbs You're Not Allowed To Have

quote [ You can’t buy them unless you live in Dubai. Apparently inspired by the ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who wanted more efficient and longer-lasting bulbs. ]

Yes, longer lasting, far more efficient LED lightbulbs exist, but you're not allowed to have them, at least not yet.

This is a sort-of follow up to this entry: The Great Lightbulb Conspiracy

Use twice as many LEDs, running at 1/4 the power, and you get a lightbulb that puts out the same amount of light for half the power, and has a waaaaaaaay longer lifespan. They've been sold since 2017, but only in Dubai. The monopoly runs out, in theory, at the end of 2021.

I'm actually wanting light bulbs which emit heat--the old kind--because I have a small lamp on a bedside-sized table where my cat sleeps because of the heat.

I should stock up on those--gotta find me some...

You could put a heating pad on the table.

Pet shops also having heating pads for lizards and turtles and stuff. Something with a gentle heat to not start a house fire or harm the cat, which seems ideal here.

I'll get one for myself, too!
