Yes, longer lasting, far more efficient LED lightbulbs exist, but you're not allowed to have them, at least not yet.

Use twice as many LEDs, running at 1/4 the power, and you get a lightbulb that puts out the same amount of light for half the power, and has a waaaaaaaay longer lifespan. I'm actually wanting light bulbs which emit heat--the old kind--because I have a small lamp on a bedside-sized table where my cat sleeps because of the heat.
I should stock up on those--gotta find me some... |

Pet shops also having heating pads for lizards and turtles and stuff. Something with a gentle heat to not start a house fire or harm the cat, which seems ideal here.
