There's a degree of superficiality to politicians, where oftentimes they can be a lot of flash, but nothing comes of it.

I suppose I look forward to the progress she makes, even if it means a legacy of copycats following her lead in challenging the old and stale practices of rich people.

And I definitely appreciate any progress towards having discourse that can move beyond bipartisanship. If I could be any less impressed by the braindead back-and-forth I see these days; my only consolation is that my expectations can't get any lower.

You’ve got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the land.

I just saw her last night for the first time on PBS, and she only spoke for about 30 seconds, but I was impressed by her. She speaks clearly, methodically and forcefully. She reminds me of the first time I heard Obama speak, but in hindsight, Obama's passion, intelligence and master-level oratory powers weren't enough. It will be interesting to see how AOC develops and whether the party has enough sense to support her.
