quote [ National polling shows that the U.S. public strongly favors bold policy proposals that Sanders has been championing for a long time. On issues ranging from climate change to Medicare for All to tuition-free public college to Wall Street power, the party’s base has been moving leftward, largely propelled by an upsurge of engagement from progressive young people. This momentum is a threat to the forces accustomed to dominating the Democratic Party. ]
And as always they are using identity politics as the cudgel. And once again putting black women as the counterweight.
The struggle is far from settled but the battle lines are looking very familiar.
Maybe best exemplified by this comment. to @SenSanders @KatCapps “Bernie Thinks Money Cures Racism.” - Episode Eleventy Million @ this post Bernie Sanders Verified account @SenSanders There will no real social progress in this country unless we have the courage to take on Wall Street, the insurance companies, the drug companies, the military-industrial complex, the fossil fuel industry, the prison industry and all the other forces of greed. There are too many of these type of comments to be random they are organized movement the question as always these days is funded by Who? The logic seems to be convince black folks that the courage to take on Wall Street, the insurance companies, the drug companies, the military-industrial complex, the fossil fuel industry, the prison industry and all the other forces of greed. Should be secondary to the end of racism...like any law could do that. I'm not black be but. A cooperate Democrat that is black and a woman ...is still a cooperate Democrat. "drunkferret" said it the best... 10 hours ago There was just a guy on CNN. Old timey fellow from the Clinton admin. He goes something along the lines of 'well I think whoever it will be will probably be a woman, probably a woman of color. something that can get major support from the base.' It made me want to blow my brains out a bit. I got nothing against women or women of color...but fuck me, can we talk about their politics? Because I vote on the politics. I didn't care Obama was black. I didn't care HRC was a woman (and I only voted for her as a lesser evil thing, I've never been a fan, she's practically an old guard republican)...and in 2020 I'm not going to care what race or gender they are. I don't care if they're a black pansexual dragonkin, just say 'medicare for all' loud and clearly and you're above most of the fucks the media is talking about. "jogo84"replied Also, I find it funny that they pretend there are all these "mystery" candidates that are going to come out of nowhere and run for president. Why can't he just say what he really means: Kamala Harris. comments I guess this is a case of take care what you ask for. This is going to be a wide open primary...all viewpoints will be on display and each will compete for a slice of the electorate...will be educational and wild. Still the field looks to be over 20+. Democrats have 2020 decisions to make as they enter the new year

The move also kicked off a controversy as the six-term congresswoman dismissed calls to bar members who accept money from fossil fuel companies from serving on the committee, arguing it would violate free speech rights.
They refuse to move away from those big checks and are even using "Citizens United" as a justification to not put people who take the polluters money on a committee to stop the pollution. At least there is a committee...that's new. |

Hard to overstate how important this is.

“They not only want to discourage or defeat a Sanders candidacy, they want to make sure that the progressive agenda is not advanced by anyone,” the letter reads.
Sanders accused groups like Third Way of wanting to return to a “failed corporate approach,” which he claimed led to increased income and wealth inequality. “Our agenda terrifies the political and financial establishment of this country,” Sanders teases possible 2020 White House bid, tears into 'Wall Street Democrats' |

Is Beto O’Rourke still the flavor of the month among the Dem hopeful's?
|
bbqkink said @ 8:56pm GMT on 28th Dec
Amazingly he is in most every poll's top 3...most polls have a drop off into 4th place and beyond and a definite top 3. Bidden, Bernie, and O’Rourke.
I thinking he is running for VP on a 3rd way type's ticket. Getting his name on the national picture....strike while the iron is hot...smart move unless he crashes and burns. |

Well to be fair - in TX a centrist is far left. To the whitehouse he is in deep commie territory.

And the reason he is in that top 3 is common sense responses to Trump's idiotic proposals...first the kneeling at football games and now to the wall.

And they are changing the rules a bit.
New primary date puts California in 2020 power position I wonder who this will help. Who lives a California and just happens to be endorsed by the person who put the people on the committee who makes the rules...hmm |
