Verizon throttled fire department’s “unlimited” data during Calif. wildfire

Verizon issued an apology, saying they're sincerely sorry that they got caught and will throw some random shlub under the bus immediately.

I mean, sure, we could unthrottle your data. But then everyone else is going to expect to be able to access life-saving communications data during times of crises, and then where would we be?
