quote [ Delaware has become the first state to ban child marriage. Gov. John Carney (D) signed the measure into law on Wednesday, setting the minimum age for marriage in the state at 18, WDEL reported.
The law went into effect immediately. Under past law, minors in the state could be married at any age with the approval of a judge. ] Full in extended. My apologies for forgetting to do the full in extended on my last posting and slamming everyone headfirst into a WSJ paywall. As they say - to err is human, to point it out with glee is the internet.

I kind of feel like the requirement that a judge approve was more than sufficient.

Different state and no requirement of judicial approval...again the requirement of judicial approval is a hell of a bar; I dislike duplicative legal requirements as a general matter and don't believe there should be additional laws passed covering the same topics. In this specific case, I don't understand how a judicial approval requirement wasn't sufficient.
