Rama’s Bridge: A Bridge Built By Monkeys

quote [ In the great Indian epic of Ramayana, penned several thousand years ago, author Valmiki speaks of a bridge over the ocean connecting India and Sri Lanka. The epic poem, that stretches for nearly 24,000 verses, narrates the life of the divine prince Rama and his struggle to rescue his abducted wife Sita from the demon king Ravana, the ruler of Sri Lanka. ]

There's this great animation about the Ramayana, from Sita's POV, interspersed with contemporary interpretation by shadow puppets, 1930 jazz, and parallels with the animator's own life.

As I recall, Rama had his buddy Hanuman the Monkey god organize the building of the bridge. I have a particular affinity for Hanuman, as he once appeared to me in a dream, after transforming from a stuffed sock monkey my grandmother made for me, into wise, talking australopithecus. He's the only clearly non Judeo-Christian divine being I have personally met.
