We spent our honeymoon at a Sandals resort on Great Exuma and it was fine, and just one of several resorts on the island. Outside of the resorts there wasn't a lot of development though, dedicating half-built shacks.

The more I read up, the more it sounds like the majority of people that made it there were people who got early signup specials for $500. Would've been a heck of a deal if they didn't get completely screwed over.
