quote [ We're learning the National Solar Observatory in Sunspot, NM, will stay shut down indefinitely. The facility was evacuated more than a week ago because of a security concern, but investigators are not saying what that concern is. The FBI told KOAT the security concern is not about aliens or UFO's, but the entrance was blocked off by yellow crime tape. "We were told we had a credible threat through the FBI and to leave," said evacuee Sean Williams. He and his family were one of five households told to leave the area. He said they weren't given a reason why. ]

The Observatory is adamant that there was no mercury spill:
The National Solar Observatory in Sunspot has been closed since last Thursday, along with the nearby post office and roughly a dozen residents, but officials remain tight-lipped as to what’s going on. The Observatory has issued a completely unominous statement on its website: "With the excitement this closure has generated, we hope you will come and visit us when we do reopen, and see for yourself the services we provide for science and public outreach in heliophysics."
