Arizona teachers end walkout after governor signs off on 20 percent raise

quote [ The Arizona governor signed a plan Thursday to give striking teachers a 20 percent pay raise, ending their six-day walkout after a dramatic all-night legislative session and sending a majority of the state's 1 million public school students back to the classroom.

Gov. Doug Ducey's signature awarded teachers a 9 percent raise in the fall and 5 percent in each of the next two years. The 20 percent also includes a 1 percent raise granted last year. ]

A win for Arizona teachers

Fuck yeah. I think this is going to be the future of organized work -- with the weakening (and corruption) of unions, people are just going to have to take matters into their own hands, laws be damned.

EDIT: I should note that I don't think this is a good long-term solution. Unions need to be strengthened, and they need to be held accountable to their members in order for anything long lasting to happen.
