quote [ Kendrick Lamar has won the Pulitzer Prize for Music for his album, DAMN., becoming the first non-classical or jazz artist to receive the honor. The Pulitzer board announced the selection on Monday, calling the 2017 LP "a virtuosic song collection unified by its vernacular authenticity and rhythmic dynamism that offers affecting vignettes capturing the complexity of modern African American life." ]

I just read all the lyrics to, DAMN, and listened to the top half dozen songs from that album on youtube. It is nice to see hip-hop lyrics several notches more sophisticated than the usual license plate buzzing stuff, and an attempt at melodic composition. But Pulitzer quality music? Give me De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, Arrested Development, et al.
I think I have to resign myself to the fact that I will never be with the the times again.

A lot of this guy's material is over my head/beyond my experience, but I sure like the way he delivers it.
