You didn't read that with the intention I wrote and I do apologize if I was unclear. I don't mean officers should expendable in that i don't care about them as people. I'm saying I don't think they can do their percieved job as protectors of society if they think their life should come first. I believe, in an ideal society, you put on that badge and your life is forfeit to the ideals of that society. That should be the job. Innocent till proven guilty doesn't work if you can get gunned down for being in the wrong place, wrong time. Hence the comparison to soldiers and the way treat them for doing the opposite of what we expect from police.
I don't expect you to agree with it, I just wanted it to be clear.
