Again, we've been through this before. You've got some serious blinders about the old site, man. That you seem have forgotten there were entire months where people would be endlessly downmodded by matt just for getting on his badside. Sometimes about apple products! And I'm not 100% (tho i'm pretty sure) whether matt did, but Marck absolutely banned people for being disruptive for the sake of being negatively disruptive which is what I consider norok, numbers, and fish to be doing. Entire backend posting rules were created in the code for madpride, longhair (who was banned for basically being too leftist), and others. Marck even made an entire fucking site to try and siphon away the disruptiveness of political toxicity that was killing SE.
Why you've got such a hardon for norok, I don't know, you had it before he showed back up. But that you keep overlooking his behavior and pretending it's based on beliefs when his expression of those beliefs are disruptive lies, lies, and more damn lies, whether he wants to acknowledge them or not isn't doing you any favors.
You wanna know why there's a culture shift? Because it turns out that making jokes about, expressing ignorant opinions about, and spreading baseless propaganda that denigrates other people creates a culture where THOSE PEOPLE aren't welcome. So you'll have to forgive me if I'm not leaping out of my chair to defend people screaming, "elp, I'm being oppressed!" As they actively shove their own neck under other peoples' boots.
And wanna know i'm happy looking back at myself over the years and thinking I was an asshole? Because it means I'm making progress as a person. Frankly, I'd feel ecstatic if SE could show that sort of self awareness as a community, but I'd settle for y'all to quit feeding the fucking trolls.
