I think kicking statues is odd behaviour, in large part as it is much more likely to inflict damage on the kicker than the object of his or her ire.
I believe the fancy term for this kind of irrationality is the "reification fallacy". There's a term for everything.
That said, I wholeheartedly endorse the right of people to kick statues often, with abandon and with gusto. But I reserve the right to think it a bit daft.
