Am I being catfished?

quote [ When a bad review of her first novel appeared online, Kathleen Hale was warned not to respond. But she soon found herself wading in ]

No surprises here but well written.

"Yeah, so I got catfished recently. It was the worst! I met this girl online and thought we had a real connection-we liked the same music, same movies, same TV shows. One thing led to another and we finally decided to meet up. Then it turned out she was just some guy named Chris Hanson."

I stopped reading part-way through. "Person engages with troll on the internet" isn't likely to result in a helpful conclusion.

Plus, thinking about or talking to internet trolls leaves me feeling dirty for a time.

Too bad, you missed a good article.

Reading as far as I did left me feeling icky.

I have the same thing with stories about organised crime. The Godfather may be a great film, but I'll never watch it because the whole mafia subject makes me feel sick.

In real life it was the balls of stallion now no longer able to be bred, a financial setback for the owner.

So... you no longer have to?

The horse just doesn't enjoy it as much.

This reminds me of the time Anne Rice sent me a nasty letter and blocked me on every social media site ever because I left an unfavorable review for a different author's book, and THAT author contacted Rice and said I was a bully.

I'd like to meet a bully that uses the term 'insipid.'

That must have been one heck of a review!

For somebody as brain-eaten as Rice to chase you down in so many places . . . what did you say?

No, really? That was amazing. I once got in a fight with Mario Vargas Llosa... Just kidding. I can only guess Rice never actually read your review and went just by the letter from the other guy. But it is a very nice anecdote, something to tell to the grandchildren I guess.

First time in a while I've read an entire article, well done!

I found myself thinking that if her novel was this well written, it's going to stand head and shoulders above the popular YA novels out right now.

...which is not to say I particularly want to read it.
