Surface Studio

quote [ Microsoft Surface Studio is a new category of device, designed to put you at the center of the creative process. Turn your desk into a Studio. ]

The video alone is a work of art!

And that hardware!

Move over Apple, and Waccom.

Edit:
as per a seggestion/request from sanepride, now with some 3rd party reviews.

already have my Cintiq, no desire to get something new.

Looks nice, but it's not like it blows away the Cintiq. Not exactly a new category of device.

Um...I sure hope Microsoft is paying you well to advertise their product here.

Alas, not even in stock dividends.

Truth be told, I have been a fan of Apple's hardware and OS X/macOS for what now, 15 years?!

I do own a few pcs, but only because they were being junked by other people. (All they needed was a little TLC: more RAM, better graphics card, bigger HD, and a good install of FreeBSD.)

This however is , in my humble opinion, a graphics and industrial designer's wet dream come true.
And Yes... there is the Cintiq, it's been out for quite some time, but look at the price point.

Also, nothing wrong with a little healthy competition. Cintiq was, after all, the only true player on that block.

May I suggest linking to some neutral 3rd party review as opposed to a slick corporate promo?

On the other hand, people seem to want to see this high-class snake oil, so fuck it. Promote away.

But... but... look at the pretty pictures... and the awesome music... and the shiny finish... and the cute girl... and the music from a famous movie... and the... aww shiiiiit.

Updating original post right now with more links.

Just remember- now matter how sleek and sexy the thing seems to be-
it's still running goddamn Windows.

Hey, if it kicks Apple in the ass and shows them that we need a slick touch screen iMac, than I am happy.

Also, and this is sad to say, but 85% of the work I do is on Windows (industrial design.) and I don't have the space for a Cintiq on my desk... so this may be the next best thing... at least until Solidworks is ported to the Mac.

Apple is making too much money being a fashion company. They'e all but abandoned their tool division (Mac). I use a Cintiq which I really like but the thought of trying to mate it to a new Macbook Pro gives me shivers. I've used various flavours of Windows but when the antiviral experience is as inconvenient as what I experienced, screw it...dip me in agar and throw me to the virii!

We 'solved' the virus issue in the most painful way possible... By not being connected! Not to the Internet, not to the intranet, not to a shared printer... Paranoia runs high here!

Also, if it ain't broke, why fix it. The Cintiq is a perfectly good device, with benefits as a periferals that are undeniable.

I however don't have one, and would have a hard time making a case for one. On the other hand, this will be a much easier pill to swallow when it's time to upgrade my main machine!

the price point...being the Surface starts at 2k with a pretty crappy graphics card, 4k for 980M which that M can mean quite a drop below the benchmarks for the 980, and a constant driver headache for the M series (personal experience with gaming laptops there).

Still -- more competition is better.
