The thing that leaps to my mind is how far we've come. Sure, Europe slid backward in a rather nasty way (in lieu of the Clausewitzian critique of politics) from being the enlightened home of Goethe et al, but they've bounced back so far that the ideas here seem so alien to us as to be inconceivable.

I think they need to hire a grammar Nazi.
