Before I even clicked on the article, I knew it was going to be akin to one of the many "those damn uppity slaves - we go out of our way to rescue them from a backwards, primitive, poverty inflicted continent and bring them here out of the goodness of our hearts - give them a place to sleep, meals, and some fulfilling work to do for the day and all they do is gripe and moan" pieces that were saturating the inter-tubes a while back.

Golden age in deed! We are now able to finance our iPhones with 24 month contracts (with our choice of 2 or 3 providers) and our landlords provide free fridges with gouging rent payments, never mind the vermin.

Things are way better than they used to be, so suck it up and ignore the remaining bad things. Especially you poor people, nobody likes you.

You know it's a privileged think piece when you start it off with Trump's scare tactics to drive home the point that we're actually better off (even though we're not).
Because someone living in the UK knows everything there is to know about the world and has YouGov polls to back it up. |
