At 12 I grew a beard and had a period

quote [ Luckily my parents were outraged and they said, "We're not going to do that. We're just going to love you, and you can choose how you want to be." That was a gift. ]

Momma taught me people come in all shapes and sizes, so we have to look beneath the surface.

I really wish people were more tolerant when I was growing up. Being called a fag for so long actually made me doubt myself and my orientation when I was a kid. I guess I am more or less 80% male, but I still have an extreme sensitivity to things that could be seen as feminine. (Why I am even writing this?).
Anyway, I am happy to see that my son is not having issues like those now that he's 14 and apparently a normal kid, but my girl is a bit butch and all that, albeit she has expressed a lot of interest in kids. I really want to be there in case they need me and I am always trying to educate them to be tolerant toward others, no matter who they are.
Damn, this story has brought back too many sad memories, particularly from the period after my dad died and all that.

Well, more of a man than me. I couldn't grow a beard until I was 16, and at 45 I am still waiting for my first period. Fucking overachievers give me the shits.
