A Black photographer added himself to places where history didn’t want him

This is absolutely fascinating. I can't help but to imagine the lives and beliefs of the people in these photographs, and to wonder what they'd think of Omar.

That kind of thing does happen. A few years ago, I saw a picture of my mother and aunt on Tumblr, posted by an account that posts "vintage" photographs. The person said they found it on eBay, which is nuts to me.
