Carrie can be seen as an indictment of teen bullying. But really, look at how much work the ‘prank’ required. Based just on my memory from seeing the film thirty years ago, it requires an entire group of people working flawlessly together to arrange everything. They coordinate to rig everything in the prom. And how much effort is required in breaking into a farm to kill and decapitate a pig? That’s more teamwork and graft than I manage in a month, and I’ve got a job. The American dream is that with hard work and dedication, you can achieve anything, and clearly the teen bullies are the American heroes in this particular story.
