We Need To Take CO2 Out Of The Sky

quote [ It’s very unlikely any one category of technology, or any one natural approach, will scale enough. We should think of a portfolio across all the approaches outlined here, as well as more I didn’t discuss or have yet to be discovered. ]

Bit nerdy summary of the methods available to accompany lowered emissions: removing existing emissions.

At the end of the day, surviving as a species is just too expensive. Extinction is the only option we can afford.

In 2014 the value of Fossil Fuel companies were based on leases containing approximately 2795 gigatonnes of co2 emissions. So according to this article 7.5 gigaton of c02 emissions is equal to an increase of 1ppm. Which means burning all 2795 gigatonnes as we're going to do (and more) will up the co2 in the atmosphere by 372 ppm. And that's really conservatively. This alone will put us at around 785ppm which is way past the 600ppm that affects human cognition. Being indoors without filtration will probably lead most individuals to experience migraines as indoor co2 levels are usually hundreds, sometimes thousands ppm higher than the outdoors. Not to mention, an additional 372ppm into our environment, meaning the oceans are pretty much going to be fucked by the end of the century.

But I wouldn't worry about too much seeing as in ExxonMobil’s 2019 Outlook for Energy, the company projects no reductions in carbon dioxide emissions from the energy sector through 2040—and no date at which emissions reach net zero, implying indefinite warming.

Just in case you thought you were having a good day. 😅🤷‍♂️
