I was at a Dave Chappelle show last night where he said that only black Americans can save America from white Americans: if every single black American registered was a registered gun owner, gun reform would happen in a heartbeat.

As a pro 2a voice I agree. Most anti gun Bill's that get passed are about making it more expensive and taxing it to death or making it easier to discriminate. The impacts are obvious. And the Democratic party has used this as a cultural wedge. Again the NRA isn't helping and the Republicans have gone full retard.

"the Democratic party has used this as a cultural wedge."

How? Obviously, there's a partisan difference with regard to gun laws, but if there is a cultural recognition, it is the NRA - and by association, the Republicans, if one insists on making it partisan - that have made it a culture issue.

Yeah, the ad campaign the NRA put the last few years was ridiculously fucked up. The backing of Don Cheeto of the NRA and the Republican party is horrible. But setting that aside and looking at just the Democrats I've seen them lean into making all gun owner out to be crazy gun nuts. They have renamed civilian sporting rifles as assault rifles and any bolt action with a scope as a sniper rifle. It is easy to find Democrats saying they want to ban all guns. The Democratic party has made a point of pushing anti gun politicians over universal healthcare or anti money in politics politicians.

... But setting that aside and looking at just the Democrats ...

"other than that, how was the play, Mrs Lincoln?"
They have renamed civilian sporting rifles as assault rifles

The term was first adopted by the manufacturers, wholesalers, importers and dealers in the American firearms industry to stimulate sales of certain firearms that did not have an appearance that was familiar to many firearm owners. The manufacturers and gun writers of the day needed a catchy name to identify this new type of gun.”

It is easy to find Democrats saying they want to ban all guns.
Please do.

That is a very well written article. I'm not surprised manufactures used the term to hype those rifles. But they quickly ran away from it when it started to be used to describe them in laws. Now it is being used to describe pistols by politicians in California.
I understand that 54% or more of Democrat voters want more gun regulations. And that you want them banned. I'm a Democrat voter but I don't want them banned. I want some of the laws rewritten to make more sense and I want to vote for single payer healthcare, net neutrality and to get money out of elections. I want to be able to do that without having to vote for someone who wants to take rights away from me.

"frontier-justice solution" is a crazy myth. Racism is a huge problem in police and policing. A black guy should be able to defend himself. Cops should be trained to deescalate and that keeping a shooter alive as the best scenario. Right now they are taught to bring all their power to bare as quickly as possible and sort it out after everyone else is completely subdued. I can't count on my hands the number of times I've read stories of black men being shot by cops in illegal horrible bullshit. And the NRA gets a ton of funding from police members and police unions. A ton of their leadership is heavy into the military/police culture. I don't expect them to break ranks. I wish the ACLU would get in on these but they have decided that people shouldn't have a personal right to guns. So they won't touch this stuff.
