The Radical Tactics of the Offline Library

quote [ It is trivially simple to start collecting e-books, marshalling them into libraries on hard drives, and then to share the results. And it is much less trivially important. Sharing is caring. Societies where people share, especially ideas, are societies that will naturally flourish. ]

Some thoughts on sharing screen-reading.

The Random Library is currently 1153 fiction books, 1866 nonfiction books, and 716 TTRPG sourcebooks. And if I wasn't sharing 384kbps in upstream bandwidth I'd damn well be sharing it now. Alas, you all will have to wait until I get better internet service... whenever anyone decides to offer better internet service in rural Bumfuck, Texas (don't hold your breath.)

Parceling USB sticks would be an option! Or torrents, I guess.

It's 80gb of books, so torrents aren't really an option either. But if anyone wants to send me a 128gb usb stick, happy to oblige!

Can you put it on 55,556 floppy disks for me? I'll send them back when I'm done copying them.

Resilio (formerly TorrentSync) seems like a good way to distribute folders w/ large files between machines – it's popular with the film industry, I believe, but limited in the free version.
