I'm reminded of the ST: Voyager episode where the ship was trapped in the gravity well of a planet with accelerated time. The character played by Daniel Dae Kim has grown up with Voyager being a part of the night sky and is watching when the ship leaves. The wistful sadness portrayed by the actor is sort of how I feel...

I've followed Cassini's progress with great interest, and it's indeed sad that it's coming to an end. It's been an incredible achievement.
It's going to be fun when the mournful and drunken tributes start coming in on twitter from the scientists involved. I hope the doomed ship gets an appropriate send off. |
