I have noticed what I think is a common theme in a lot of woolly-thinking. It is the assumption that freedom to do something implies there should be freedom from consequences of doing that thing.

There are a lot of things you have a right to do, like questioning whether disaster survivors are ‘crisis actors’. But people who do those things always seem surprised and morally aggrieved that doing so results in bad consequences for themselves.
