I do regularly think about spinning up a small fediverse instance for my geographically local community. But then I remember I don't want to manage that.

A common experience in many projects I encounter is this: no matter how flexible and lean you build these tools, it always ends up being a communication and care job, regardless of platforms or even media.
But then again you can always ask for help inside of these groups, people can fill a surprising range of roles. |

Dunbar's number, the estimated number of people a human can maintain stable social relationships with, is 150. I think about that whenever I see people on Facehook or whatever with 1462 "friends".
