Someone leaked an opinion written by Alito overturning Roe

quote [ The Supreme Court has voted to strike down the landmark Roe v. Wade decision, according to an initial draft majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito circulated inside the court and obtained by POLITICO.

The draft opinion is a full-throated, unflinching repudiation of the 1973 decision which guaranteed federal constitutional protections of abortion rights and a subsequent 1992 decision ? Planned Parenthood v. Casey ? that largely maintained the right. ?Roe was egregiously wrong from the start,? Alito writes. ]

Someone (a clerk?) leaked the opinion.

War Is Bad

quote [ Hi. In today?s episode, we discuss Ukraine, Russia, the war between Russia and Ukraine, other wars, why war is bad, why nuclear war is worse, and maybe no more wars? ]

Counterpoint: All those op-eds in Washington Post, NY Times, The Atlantic, and Politico by employees of Lockheed and Raytheon the past few years assuring me that war isn't bad. How bout that, genius?

Citations Needed: How Notions of ?Blight? and ?Barrenness? Were Manufactured to Erase Indigenous Peoples

quote [ The Marshall Trilogy is picked up and used in Australia, in New Zealand, in Canada, all over the world, anywhere where settler states are building, and they are using the United States? argument saying that these Native people, they have the right of occupancy, but because they are these backward, primitive people, they have no right to property, and that?s all done through the letter of the law, that?s made into good policy, right? It naturalizes dispossession by saying, ?Well, that?s a law.? ]

A fascinating episode that covers settlement and gentrification methods that have been used throughout history and even still in the present day.

Russia to halt cooperation over International Space Station

quote [ Russia says it will end cooperation with western countries over the International Space Station until sanctions are lifted.

Russia?s space director said on Saturday that the restoration of normal ties between partners at the ISS and other joint space projects would be possible only once western sanctions against Moscow were lifted. ]

Not much info in the article. I would hope they allow the Americans onboard to leave if Russia decides to abandon it.

U.S. Senate approves bill to make daylight saving time permanent

quote [ The U.S. Senate on Tuesday passed legislation that would make daylight saving time permanent starting in 2023, ending the twice-annual changing of clocks in a move promoted by supporters advocating brighter afternoons and more economic activity. ]

Hopefully Biden comes through on this. Been tired of this ish for a minute. Although, I did hear that the US had a similar law in the 70s and everyone dislike it.
