The FBI recommends not to indict Hillary Clinton for email misconduct

Not surprising, especially after Lynch said she would go along with whatever recommendation the FBI makes.

Put it this way: If no one can go to jail for starting a war based on lies, war profiteering, packing committees with former business buddies, and a whole raft of other conflicts of interest, this isn't going to get anyone fired, let alone arrested.

Assuming there was a criminal offense in there, the Republicans pulled a Mark Furhman by making it a witch hunt. Even some of their own committee members admitted the investigation was personal and political, and even with that level of partisan hate, they couldn't come up with any indictable offenses. They spent more time and money than was spent investigating the JFK Assassination, Watergate, or Whitewater, and they couldn't even manage one charge.

They tried to play a crooked game of poker with marked cards and they still lost. Now that we've seen the tactics involved, no one (who wasn't already convinced of her guilt) is going to trust anything the committee says as true.
sanepride said @ 7:48pm GMT on 5th Jul
Of course this has been the recurring pattern with the Clintons and their political enemies since the '90s. Republicans launch some politically-motivated investigation into some perceived scandal, Bill and/or Hillary end up beating the rap (making their persecutors look like petty fools), further adding to their arrogance which of course leads to doing something stupid (but not necessarily illegal- like the email issue), prompting yet another politically-motivated investigation. It's kind of vicious circle.

My faith in the American system is gone. When this bitch can get away with this magnitude of dishonesty and straight up perjury....it cements in my mind that there are two systems of justice in this country and we, the little unwashed masses, are not part of it.

I have friends that were straight up dismissed from service for simple mishandling of classified information on TRAINING EXERCISES. Here she is sending out real world sensitive information over unclassified networks and she gets a pass.

What David Petraus did was NOTHING compared to what has happened.

let you or I do half of what she did. Locked up and key thrown away.

What? It's not like she had her dad send bagmen to her casino to illegally buy high-value poker chips to prop it up and then not go to jail for it.

It's not like she committed fraud with a phony real-estate "university" or anything.

I am not "pro-trump". As a mattter of fact I voted for Ben Carson in the primaries. But you are comparing buying poker chips to keeping national secrets on an unsecured server? Seriously?

Trump is a business man, not a career politician like Hillary. He doesn't run for office, he is still rich and working. Hillary is not in office? She becomes flotsam. She has never held a real job! Hell, she has not driven a car in over 20 years! How the hell do you expect her to talk for the "middle class" when she has NOTHING IN COMMON WITH US??? Trump is just as bad but I guarantee that if any of his employees tried the shit she just got away with.....the words "YOU'RE FIRED" come to mind.

This year is another voting year where I will hold my nose and cast my ballot because both choices suck. No two ways around it, both are equally shitty. And with a Congress that ran on "give us the House and we'll fight for you" promise only to backpedal on every thing they told us?

Fuck it. I am going to immerse myself in baseball! GO ROYALS!!!

Just to clarify my statement, I am in no way defending Clinton or her careless email usage. What I'm saying is referring to her as 'this bitch' is inappropriate and unnecessary, for the same reason you probably wouldn't refer to President Obama as 'this nigger'.
But maybe such a distinction is lost on someone who thinks that a career devoted to self-enrichment is somehow more admirable or legitimate than a career in public service.
King Of The Hill said @ 10:24pm GMT on 6th Jul
Clinton's entire career in public service was about self-enrichment as is the case with most politicians.

I think a statement like that could use some citation.
Sure, Hillary's done pretty well with book deals, speeches, etc, but people seeking self-enrichment generally head for the private sector. There's a whole lot of things you could do with a law degree that will bring in a lot more $$ than going into politics.

General Petraeus admitted improperly removing and retaining highly sensitive information in personal notebooks, which he then gave to Ms. Broadwell. These notebooks contained code words for secret intelligence programs, the identities of covert officers, and information about war strategy and deliberative discussions with the National Security Council.

Ms. Broadwell had no clearance to receive that information.

General Petraeus knew the information he gave her was classified, he knew she wasn't cleared to receive it, and he gave it to her anyway. That was a violation of 18 USC § 798, and he should have been charged with that. Instead, he ended up pleading guilty to 18 USC § 1924.

Petraeus got off light. Others have gone to jail for what he did.

Here's a story on how he managed to skate with only a misdemeanor.

Nothing that Secretary Clinton did was even close. Everyone with whom she exchanged classified information was cleared to receive that information. The cases aren't remotely comparable.

Well, she's married to an ex-president, worked for the sitting president, and is probably the next president.

If you work in the FBI, I don't think you want to pick a fight you can't 100% win against the next president. I'd also assume if they had a viable case, there are plenty of people who would jump at the chance to take her down.

Basically I'm also of the mind that, for the large part, the clintons probably don't take a shit without running it past a team of lawyers regarding probability or prosecution first. They really remind of me the Roman political system where you basically have to stay in office until you die to avoid the legal prosecution from your enemies. That, or basically live on a ranch in the middle of nowhere for the rest of your life ala the Bush family.

That said- what was the expression about the wisdom or having the sneaks, thieves and liars on your side?

I think Trump is trying to not only play up his meme of "crooked Hillary," he's also trying to set the stage for claiming that "the rigged system" is out to get him when the eventual verdict on Trump University is handed down.

Never mind that he's gotten away with worse in the past thanks to being connected/rich. Irony is for other people, I guess.
