Why is it called menopause and not menostop? It's not like the meno starts up again.

The Greek origin of the word pausis is based on "stop" - the meaning of temporary stop for "pause" was created later, it seems.

I can tell you, if you get in to a brain fog or mood swing situation with a partner who is going through this, laughing is usually the exact wrong thing to do.
