Former bishop of Bountiful, B.C., found guilty of polygamy

quote [ A former religious leader in B.C. has been found guilty of polygamy after marrying more than two dozen women over the course of 25 years.

Winston Blackmore was charged with practising plural or "celestial" marriage in the fundamentalist community of Bountiful, B.C. ]

I'm not sure how I feel about this. They treat women like cattle, but how do you ban that and let respectful, healthy poly relationships be?

Found guilty of polygamy:
The member of a sect
Stood up erect
And poked at the law's validity.

Contract law. The problem is apparently not the number of people in the relationship, although I am a 1 partner kind of guy and ...I don't judge other arrangements but they are sure not for me, it does seem to me that some sort of arrangement could be arrived at which assures that all parties know what the fuck they are doing.

Please, do not get me wrong, putting an arrangement on paper not only does not guarantee that all parties will read and understand its terms, but in my professional experience, it pretty much assures that nobody will read anything. But it's really all you can do.

How does that differ in any meaningful way from what happened here?
