Since you ask I'm filing this under "lone wolf Islamophobic vigilantism".

and meanwhile this just came in,

Should be noted that as disturbing as this crime is, according to WaPo police are not investigating it as a hate crime.
1234 said[2] @ 4:53pm GMT on 19th Jun

Not investigated as a hate crime, just reported as a hate crime.

Motive is still undetermined but this is the headline on the WaPo article:
Killing of Muslim teenager not being investigated as a hate crime, police say

That's reporting. I know it's difficult with all of your preconceived biases, but do try and pay attention.
1234 said[1] @ 10:09pm GMT on 19th Jun

Which is why the very Guardian article we're discussing is reporting "hate crime is one of the motives under investigation".

Perhaps it's you who should try paying attention.
sanepride said @ 10:35pm GMT on 19th Jun
Hey I'm not responsible for how the Guardian, reporting from the other side of the Atlantic, chooses to report the story. It certainly could have been a hate crime, and according the Post the girl's family seems to think so.
Might be of interest to you that the accused perp is apparently a Spanish-speaking immigrant- so there is something here for you to jerk off to.

Just read the article under discussion next time before shooting your mouth off.

So, limit my information to just a single source? Is that what you do?

It's not clear-cut. While the cause of the argument between the driver of the car and the group of teenagers is not yet clear, it appears on the surface at least that he wasn't out to target Muslims. Whether he would have done what he did if the kids weren't dressed as they were is no doubt part of the investigation.

If you are deranged enough to hit a young woman with a baseball bat, and the type of person who carries a baseball bat with them in their car in the middle of the night, all bets are off as far as I am concerned. If the police investigating are confident Islamophobia was not a factor, given the large number of witnesses they would have interviewed already then I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt here.
sanepride said @ 3:43am GMT on 20th Jun
Right, well you're pursuing a reasonable explanation of what may have transpired. Meanwhile, numbers seems mostly agitated at the 'fake media' (or at least the Guardian) suggesting it might be a hate crime, and at me for not exclusively sticking to the Guardian's narrative.

FWIW-
Local police are now calling it a probable road rage incident. Considering the murderous brutality, pretty heavy on the rage.

In the immediate aftermath of the London Bridge attack Trump responded quickly offering solidarity (but mainly touting his stalled travel ban).
If this turns out to be an anti-Muslim attack, as it so far seems, I wonder how/if he'll react.

By blaming the mayor?
pleaides said @ 7:44am GMT on 19th Jun
I'm hearing that the majority of the victims were clustered together because they were rendering medical assistance to an elderly gentleman who had taken ill and collapsed on the side of the road.

There are no words for the level of contempt and disgust I feel toward the perpetrator(s).

White-guy violence so it = "lone wolf"

Unless they "find" a hastily constructed facebook page showing that he voted a straight labour party ticket, then it will be grabbed and pounded around the internets of an example of "the 'violent left' striking again."

btw - I also read that the local imam shielded the driver from the angry crowd until police arrived.

Neighbours told of their shock after seeing pictures of Osborne being arrested by police.

Dave Ashford, 52, said: ‘Someone called me and said it was him and I said ‘It can’t be’. Then I saw the picture on the news and said ‘S***, it’s him’.’

Another neighbour said: ‘He had lived on the estate for a few years. He’s always been a complete c*** but this is really surprising.’
