"One of the many problems with Alien 3 was its lack of escalation. "

Fuck you. That kind of thinking is why every single movie now is about a giant world-ending sky-laser.

Alien 3 has issues, absolutely. But that was not one of them.

P.S. If you haven't seen the assembly cut, you absolutely have to.

The read the .txt file floating about on the nascent internet, but I didn't take to it much. In particular I didn't like the airbourne xenomorph infection element. When you've got a murderous steel-carapaced, acid-blooded monster that will kill you in the blink of an eye, you don't need to have to worry about non-deterministic alien DNA in the air. The creature's very existence is toxic on its own.

"Gibson sat at his Apple IIc, fired up Microsoft Word" somehow I doubt that.

Odd they wanted to add Communists -- seemed like a big part of the Alien leitmotif was the absolute dominion of Capitalism, like futuristic Hudson Bay or East India Trading Companies. Which then makes perfect sense to get Gibson, arguably progenitor of the capitalist cyberpunk dystopia. I guess space is a pretty big place, and Gibson was apparently skilled enough author to keep the Cold War parallels from being too ham-handed, but it feels like it being there at all was unnecessary.
