When people talk about NAFTA they act as if it is a 2 way pact not a 3 way that includes Canada. Canada is our No1 trading partner most due to oil. A trade war with Canada is the one you want to pick if you are a Nationalist, so no surprise there.

Man, its gonna suck if for the US if they get into a trade war with Canada and the Canadian government realizes that the only reason the US keeps the lights on for most of the East Coast (and parts of the Rust Belt) is because Canada keeps the hydro tap on for cheap.
Hydro tariffs anyone? Or just flip the switch for a few days- How many nights of rolling Blackouts in NYC will it take for the US to break? Trump's an idiot- you don't start trade wars with your biggest trade partner, especially not one who's trade is so intertwined with your own country that everything negative you do to said country creates an equally negative problem in your own country. |

Honestly as a Canadian I have seen these cyclical little blips on lumber all my life and historicity they have been happening for at least the last 100 years. Historicity the courts have generally supported Canada on this. Let me just say that Trump(despite thinking himself a shrewd businessman ) doesn't want to start playing these games. |
